If you have started implementing RPA – or even if you have started considering automating some of your company’s tasks – it’s safe to assume you already know that software robots can make your business more efficient and more easily scalable. But, there’s more to a complete RPA solution than software robots.
To utilize those robots in the best way possible, the right members of your team need to have the right information at the right time. That’s why it’s so important to build a strong center of excellence (CoE) within your company – and it’s why we at Kryon have made it an essential part of our mission to provide you with the guidance you need to make your CoE a success.
An RPA center of excellence is a comprehensive, in-house resource incorporating a business’s team members who are dedicated to facilitating the success of the business’s RPA solution. Building an effective CoE accomplishes four main goals:
- In-house RPA implementation. It ensures that relevant employees have the knowledge they need to “train” your robots, manage their tasks, and work effectively alongside them.
- It streamlines your use of RPA by having one main in-house group facilitate and support automation for all your company’s departments.
- Awareness of potential. It helps employees in your various departments discover ways they could benefit from RPA.
- It prepares a group of in-house employees to train and assist their colleagues as your company expands its use of automation.
So what makes a center of excellence effective? It’s largely a matter of information – having it, using it, and sharing it with colleagues. To help you make sure each member of your CoE has the knowledge they need to excel within their role, we at Kryon offer you useful guidance at every point along your RPA journey. What does Kryon’s guidance for centers of excellence include?
To give your company the in-house RPA knowledge you need, Kryon offers you onsite training for all members of your center of excellence. This training is comprehensive, giving your team a strong foundation both to start working with RPA (immediately) and to expand your use of automation (in the future). Our training is also intensive, covering all the basics in just one week so that you can get your center of excellence up and running quickly.
Perhaps most importantly, our training provides both the technical and management information your center of excellence needs. It is designed to prepare members of your team to perform the two essential roles that every CoE should include:
- The RPA programmer, who creates and edits automation workflows for your robots to follow
- The RPA manager, who delegates tasks and manages your robots’ schedules
By the end of the week of training, both your CoE’s programmers and its managers should be ready to begin running your day-to-day automated tasks. Additionally, they will have the skills and knowledge they need to work with and educate their colleagues throughout your company, helping all departments get the most out of RPA. And if you choose to expand your use of automation in the future – a common scenario for businesses after running an RPA pilot – your CoE team will be prepared to automate new tasks, manage new robots, and train new (human) team members.
After your team has completed this training session, we keep in touch to help you handle any challenges you may face. Throughout your RPA launch and the following weeks, we like to hold regular phone calls to make sure everything is running smoothly, both technically and organizationally. Then, even once the members of your CoE team have settled into their new roles and you are feeling comfortable with your RPA solution, we continue to offer ongoing customer support as needed.
For us at Kryon, the guidance we offer our clients’ centers of excellence isn’t just a “nice to have” – it’s a key part of an end-to-end RPA solution. The right information is what enables a CoE to thrive, making your company’s use of automation as efficient and easily scalable as possible. By providing thorough, intensive training and ongoing support, we can help you get more out of RPA – both in the near future and in the long run.
